Unemployment is up 48,000 to stand at 2.67 million in the final quarter of 2011. Employment is up 60,000 to stand at 29.13 million and Inactivity is down 78,000 to 9.29 million.
Employment for UK nationals was down 166,000 between the final quarters of 2010 and 2011 while, over the same period, employment for non-UK nationals was up 166,000
Around 1 in 3 of everyone unemployed in the UK have been looking for work for over a year, accounting for 860,000 people.
Long-term unemployment is highest for the over 50s. 45% of unemployed people in that age group have been looking for work for over a year.
