The seasonally adjusted index increased by 2.3% between May 2013 and May 2014. This reflects increases of 3.7% in manufacturing and 2.3% in the water supply, sewerage & waste management sector. Partially offsetting these increases were decreases of 5.8% in the electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning sector and 0.2% in mining & quarrying.

The seasonally adjusted index decreased by 0.7% between April 2014 and May 2014. This reflects decreases of 1.3% in manufacturing and 1.1% in the water supply, sewerage & waste management sector. Partially offsetting these decreases were increases of 3.8% in the electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning sector and 0.8% in mining & quarrying.

In this release, the earliest period open for revision was April 2014, in line with National Accounts revisions policy. Revisions reported in this release have no impact on previously published GDP estimates.
