The seasonally adjusted index fell by 2.2% between February 2013 and February 2012. There were falls of 8.4% in mining and quarrying; 1.4% in manufacturing; 0.6% in energy supply and 2.6% in waste management.
The picture is different when comparing February 2013 with January 2013. All production sectors rose in February 2013. The last time this happened was in July 2012.
Energy supply output increased on last month but decreased for the same period last year.
