The seasonally adjusted index fell by 0.6% between April 2013 and April 2012. There were falls of 3.8% in mining & quarrying; 0.5% in manufacturing; and 0.4% in water, sewerage & waste management. Offsetting these falls was a rise of 1.8% in the electricity, gas steam & air conditioning sector.

The picture is different when comparing March 2013 with April 2013. There were rises of 0.9% in mining & quarrying and 1.5% in the water, sewerage & waste management. Offsetting the rises were falls of 0.2% in manufacturing and 0.2% in the electricity, gas steam & air conditioning sector.
