The statistics in this release are a new presentation of the Key Statistics and Quick Statistics for wards and Output areas in England and Wales also released 30 January 2013. They present statistics for parishes (in England), communities (in Wales) and parliamentary constituencies in England and Wales by aggregating the output area material published in the Key Statistics and Quick Statistics for wards and Output areas.
The aggregation from output areas to higher geographies uses a best-fit methodology and more information about output areas and the geographical methods used to make this best fit are available, with look up files and other geographical products, from ONS geography.
The 35 Key Statistics tables and 58 Quick Statistics tables are available from the Neighbourhood Statistics service.
Commentary and analysis of the census estimates in these tables is available at regional level in the statistical bulletins released as part of the:
More detailed analyses of the census estimates are also provided for some topics published in parallel with each of these releases. Further analyses will be published during 2013.
During 2013 ONS will release cross tabulations of characteristics, such as by age, sex or ethnicity. This will provide an even richer and more valuable data source for the many users of the census.
Further information about the census estimates, including details about the methodology used and information about how other population sub-groups are defined and estimated, which is available from the quality and methods page.
Further information on the fitness for purpose of the statistics in this release can be found in the Quality and Methodology Information paper (157.6 Kb Pdf) .
