In this release

This release covers the topic of Armed Forces, cross-tabulated with one or more other topics from the census. Tables are provided for local authorities in England and Wales.

There are six Armed Forces tables in this release.  Each table is available to download as a reference table in Excel format. The level of detail included in Armed Forces tables means that, in order to comply with the census disclosure policy, these tables are produced only for Local Authorities which meet a minimum threshold in the number of Armed Forces persons present. The region and national totals have been aggregated from all Local Authorities, not just those above the threshold.

Cross-tabulations of other topics from the census are available for 2011 Census Merged Wards and Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOAs) in Detailed Characteristics tables, and for Output Areas in Local Characteristics tables. All Detailed and Local Characteristics are available on the Nomis website.

Further information about the census estimates, including details about the methodology used and information about how other population sub-groups are counted and defined, is available in the in the the 2011 Census user guide.

Further information on the fitness for purpose of the statistics in this release can be found in the Quality and Methodology (157.6 Kb Pdf) Information paper.

These National Statistics are produced to high professional standards and released according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
