The Earl of Selborne, the Chairman of The Foundation, chaired the debate. Professor Paul Boyle and Baroness O’ Neil of Bengarve also spoke.
The audience, which included members from both Houses of Parliament, Whitehall departments, Devolved Administrations, Research Councils, and senior managers from industry and the research community, were then invited to comment and put questions to the speakers.
The debate was lively with participants agreeing that better use could be made of public data but that confidentiality must be maintained and its provenance protected.
