Purpose
The survey into Business Spending on Capital Items requests a more detailed breakdown of the acquisitions and disposal data provided on the Quarterly Capital Expenditure inquiry.
The information is needed to deflate quarterly capital expenditure figures more accurately; it is also used in the calculation of quarterly expenditure weights.
The data is also used for deflation within the National Accounts in the Final Economy Price Index and the Input/Output tables.
