Quarterly Survey of Contracts and New Orders

Survey at a glance

Purpose

The Quarterly Survey of Contracts and New Orders is a survey of businesses within the construction and allied trades sector in Great Britain.

The survey collects detailed information about new orders, including the nature of work, location of the project, whether the client is a public or private organisation, the expected duration and the value of the contract.

The quarterly results from this survey give an indication of trends in the construction and allied trades industry, which helps to build a comprehensive picture of economic activity.

The survey is split into two parts for the purposes of sampling:

  • Selection Criteria - UK trading construction businesses registered for VAT and/or PAYE, with less than 20 full time employees

  • Population - 220,000

Survey code 230:

  • Selection Criteria - UK trading construction businesses registered for VAT and/or PAYE, with more than 19 full time employees
