What does the 2011 Census tell us about the "oldest old" living in England & Wales?
06-Dec-2013This report looks at the characteristics of the “oldest old” – those aged 85 or over on Census Day 2011. It compares them to people aged 65 to 84 in 2011 and to those who were in the 85 and over age group on Census Day 2001. It looks at the similarities and differences between them, for example in their marital status, perceived general health and the amount of unpaid care that they provide.
