Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE)

Region and Country Profiles provides a source of essential statistics for the regions of England and the constituent countries of the UK (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). The tables provide a wide range of economy and labour market statistics to compare the countries, regions and local authority areas.

Also known as Labour Costs Index (LCI). Measures changes in the average labour costs per hour worked. Labour costs include wages and salaries as well as employer social contributions, maternity, paternity and sick pay and benefits in kind.

Tables showing the number of UK jobs from 1998 to 2012 paid below the minimum wage by age group and by gender and full-time or part-time work. Further breakdowns include industry sector, region and major occupation groups. Estimates of the number of 16-17 year olds paid below the national minimum wage were first included in 2005. In 2011 the age at which employees are entitled to the main National Minimum Wage was changed from 22 to 21.
