The National Statistics Quality Review Programme (NSQRP) was a key feature of the National Statistics system prior to the independence of the UK statistical system, which came into effect on 1 April 2008.
As part of the ongoing programme of evaluation, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Statistics Commission (now the UK Statistics Authority) carried out a joint project to qualitatively assess the effectiveness of a number of completed quality reviews.
The programme ensures data are correctly produced, that they are suitable and relevant, and that quality issues are addressed.
Sound Methodology and Assured Quality is a key principle in the Code of Practice for Official Statistics to which all official statistics must adhere.
