The Guidelines for Measuring Statistical Output Quality provide a checklist of quality measures and indicators for us when measuring and reporting on the quality of statistical outputs. They present best practice for measuring quality throughout the statistical production process.
The purpose of the guidelines is to promote a standardised approach to measuring and reporting on quality across the Government Statistical Service (GSS). Although the guidelines are primarily aimed at producers of official statistics, they can be used by anyone wanting to report on the quality of statistical outputs.
The Guidelines (V3.1) contain a wide range of quality measures and indicators, grouped together into stages of the statistical production process.
The Guidelines also record the dimension of quality being measured in each case, using the six European Statistical Service (ESS) Dimensions of Quality developed by Eurostat.
More information on the ESS Dimensions is contained in the Guidelines.
Version 3.1 contains new quality measures for information loss after disclosure control methods have been applied.
It is anticipated that the guidelines will be reviewed in 2012, with the aim of including quality measures for non survey-based outputs.
