Release date: 30 March 2004
The report Key Statistics for postcode sectors in England and Wales contains data for England and Wales, England, Wales, and all postal areas, districts, and sectors in England and Wales.
The postal areas are as at the time of the Census in April 2001, and results are not included for areas that are below the minimum confidentiality thresholds of 100 residents and 40 households.
The report, which was laid before Parliament, provides valuable benchmarks and comparative information to support the widespread use of postal geography.
The printed part of the report provides background information on the Census, the postal geography used in the tables, and outlines of the Key Statistics and postal area profile tables. The accompanying CD contains the Key Statistics tables as percentages and counts, and the postal area profiles as percentages, in SuperTABLE format.
The Key Statistics tables
The Key Statistics dataset consists of a series of 33 tables which provide a summary of the complete results of the Census. They are designed to enable easy comparison between areas across the full range of Census variables.
