2009 Census Rehearsal in Wales

Ynys Môn (Isle of Anglesey) is one of three local authority areas selected to take part in the 2009 rehearsal for the 2011 Census. The area has been chosen as a representative cross section of the Welsh population and the homes they live in.

What’s different about the rehearsal in Ynys Môn (Isle of Anglesey)? Around 34,000 selected households will receive Welsh and English versions of the questionnaire and the accompanying information leaflet.

Individuals can choose whether to complete their questionnaire in Welsh or English. Promotional materials and advertising will be in Welsh and English.

A Welsh language helpline has been set up to help Welsh-speaking people taking part in the rehearsal to complete their questionnaires or request additional copies.

People will have the option to view the online, self-help guidance in either Welsh or English.

Both versions of the questionnaire to be used in Wales include a question about the Welsh language – asking whether the individual is able to understand, speak, read or write Welsh. Both are now available to download.
