Disclosure Control Policy for Birth and Death Statistics

ONS is dedicated to protecting the confidentiality within birth and death statistics.

The guidance relates to tabular data outputs based on the 2006 data year onwards, although the implications for historic data are described.

It gives guidance on the circumstances in which disclosure control is required.

The guidance also clarifies the position on data sharing between ONS and the Department of Health, the NHS and other health bodies.
