Aerospace and Electronic Cost Indices, November 2012 (Excel sheet 151Kb)
Contains cost indices (purchase of materials and fuels, average weekly earnings, general expenses and combined costs) relating to four aerospace and electronics industries. The data are based on the Standard Industrial Classification SIC (2007) and are calculated on a base year of 2005=100. The indices are widely used by government and business as an authoritative source of information on inflation, cost adjusting and price variation in trading contracts. Indices for the latest two months are always provisional and flagged with a "p" marker due to the level of imputation present for items where the latest prices are not available. This level of imputation reduces significantly for earlier months, allowing index data to be published as firm values. Occasionally, new information produces a change in the value of an index already published as firm. Where change is significant, index values are recalculated and annotated with an "r" marker.

Time series data: Trade in Goods MRETS (all BOP version - EU2004), December 2012
Time series dataset: UK trade is a key economic indicator due to the importance of international trade to the UK economy. It is also a very timely statistic, providing an early indicator of what is happening more generally in the economy. In addition, it is a major component of two other key economic statistics – UK Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the UK Balance of Payments. This means that there is a threefold potential for UK Trade statistics to inform the Government’s view of the UK economy, as well as the views of others, such as economists, City analysts, academics, the media, and international organisations.

1. Crime Statistics: Nature of Crime tables, 2011/12 - Burglary (Excel sheet 421Kb)
The figures presented here are from the 2011/12 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Domestic burglary includes: burglary with entry – incidents in which the offender entered the dwelling as a trespasser with the intention of committing theft or criminal damage. The offender must have entered the property but need not have carried out his/her intention, and attempted burglary – incidents in which there is clear evidence that the offender tried to enter the dwelling as a trespasser but failed. Burglary does not necessarily entail the theft (or attempted theft) of property or involve forced entry (for example, it may be through an open window or involve the use of false pretences). The CSEW does not collect information about burglary of commercial premises.

3. Crime Statistics: Nature of Crime tables, 2011/12 - Bicyle theft (Excel sheet 175Kb)
The figures presented here are from the 2011/12 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Bicycle theft covers thefts of bicycles belonging to the respondent or any member of the respondent’s household. This category does not include every bicycle theft, as some may be stolen during the course of another offence (for example, burglary) and are therefore classified as such in the CSEW.

4. Crime Statistics: Nature of Crime tables, 2011/12 - Other household theft (Excel sheet 293Kb)

Other household theft includes: burglary and attempted burglary from a non-connected domestic garage/outhouse, theft in a dwelling (theft committed inside a home by somebody who was entitled to be there, for example, workmen), theft outside a dwelling (theft of items from outside the home but on the premises) and theft from a meter (theft from meters inside dwellings).

5. Crime Statistics: Nature of Crime tables, 2011/12 - Personal and other theft (Excel sheet 191Kb)
The figures presented here are from the 2011/12 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Personal and other theft includes: theft from the person - which includes snatch theft from the person (force may have been used to snatch property that the victim was carrying) and stealth theft (respondent was unaware of property they were carrying or near to them being stolen) and attempted snatch or stealth theft, and other theft of personal property - which includes theft of items the respondent was not holding or carrying at the time, for example, items left in cloakrooms, and where the respondent was not in their home during the incident.

6. Crime Statistics: Nature of Crime tables, 2011/12 - Vandalism (Excel sheet 223Kb)
The figures presented here are from the 2011/12 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Vandalism in the CSEW covers any intentional and malicious damage to private households and their property. It does not include accidental damage or incidents that do not incur financial cost to the victim to repair the damage. CSEW vandalism specifically includes: arson (where there is deliberate damage to property caused by fire), vandalism to a motor vehicle and vandalism to the home (including doors, windows, gates, fences and belongings in the garden) and to other property.

8. Crime Statistics: Nature of Crime tables, 2011/12 - Children aged 10-15 (Excel sheet 177Kb)
The figures presented here are from the 2011/12 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Since January 2009 the CSEW has asked children aged 10 to 15 resident in households in England and Wales about their experience of crime in the previous 12 months. Refinements to the questions and definitions used in the questionnaire mean that direct comparisons between years and between adult and child data cannot be made. The Children aged 10 to 15 Nature of Crime tables include data on where and when incidents happened, information about offenders, the victim's perception of the incident, whether the incident was reported, whether injuries were sustained or weapons were used in violent incidents and what items were stolen in theft related incidents.

7. Crime Statistics: Nature of Crime tables, 2011/12 - Violent crime (Excel sheet 451Kb)
The figures presented here are from the 2011/12 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Violent crime measured by the CSEW includes: assault with minor injury, assault with no injury, wounding and robbery. Violence measured by the CSEW can also be classified into four subgroups (violence typology): domestic, mugging, stranger and acquaintance. Domestic violence – includes all violent incidents, excluding mugging, which involve partners, ex-partners, household members or other relatives. Mugging – this is a popular rather than a legal term, comprising robbery, attempted robbery, and snatch theft from the person. Stranger violence – includes assault and wounding incidents where the victim did not know (any of) the offender(s) in any way. Acquaintance violence – comprises assault and wounding incidents where the victim knew (one or more of) the offender(s), at least by sight.
