Part of our commitment to positive change on diversity is to engage our people and track our progress on the civil service-wide people survey and take action to improve where necessary.
We also consult through the ONS annual diversity forum which is attended by over 100 ONS staff.
We integrate diversity into talent and skills development, and succession planning.
Our diversity mentoring scheme, now in its second year, is focused on career planning and development and is open to people from any of the protected groups (identified in the Equality Act).
Twenty successful and fully trained mentoring pairs will be fully supported for twelve months during 2010/11.
ONS also provides:
- mandatory diversity awareness and managing diversity training
- diversity integrated into the full range of available courses, for example recruitment and selection to support our fair and open recruitment process
- training for managers of disabled staff
- equality impact assessment coaching
