How we analyse effects on equality

ONS is responsible for making a wide range of decisions day to day.

Equality analysis is our way of considering the effect of our decisions on different groups protected by the Equality Act, such as: age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

We aim to consider if there are any unintended consequences for some groups or whether a policy will be fully effective for all target groups.

To do this we carry out assessments of our policies and functions, so that we can identify any impact on our workforce and the public at large.

This work is ongoing and these pages contain links to all of our assessments carried out to date.

By clicking on any of our assessments you will be able to see the questions we ask.
