The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has developed the Access to ONS data service, which provides researchers with a single point of contact for all queries or data access requests.
Access to ONS data is for researchers who:

want to apply for access to data that are not available through existing services

need to enquire about the best source of data to meet their research needs

have general queries about access to data
-
want to talk to someone about their data needs, or
-
need to enquire about an existing data access request
All incoming correspondence is recorded, acknowledged and forwarded to the appropriate ONS business area for action.
Applications and enquiries are monitored to ensure that researchers are kept up-to-date throughout the application process.
Requesting access to data
There are various routes through which to apply for data (see information to download from this page).
Customers should contact the Access to Data team for advice on the most appropriate route and how to apply for access.
Government department customers, who know which data they require, should complete a customer request form (available to download from this page) and email it to their usual business contact, or to the access to data team.
All other customers should email the access to data team for advice about how to apply for data
If you are unsure about the best source of data to meet your needs, email the Access to Data team with full details regarding the purpose for requiring the data, and the intended outputs.
Once the most appropriate dataset has been identified, you will be advised how to apply for access.
