Who we are - Overview

ONS is the UK’s largest independent producer of official statistics and the recognised national statistical institute of the UK. Our people play a leading role in the development of national and international good practice in the production of official statistics.

ONS works with its customers, large and small, to fully understand their needs and keep pace with changing demands.

Our Mission

‘Trusted statistics – understanding the UK’ is the ONS mission statement. It sums up our role in the UK statistical system; what we do and what we offer.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be widely respected for informing debate and improving decision making through high quality, easy to use statistics and analyses on the UK’s economy and society.

Our Values

Our vision and mission statement describe ‘what’ ONS will do; our values describe ‘how’ ONS lives the vision. Our values are that we:
