Draft Regulations were laid before Parliament by Francis Maude, Cabinet Office Minister, on 15 September 2011 to enable Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs to disclose Value Added Tax information to the UK Statistics Authority (the preferred name for the Statistics Board) in order to improve business statistics.
No information will be disclosed to the Authority by Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs until Parliamentary approval is obtained, the regulations are made and both organisations are satisfied that data handling requirements are fully met. This is expected to be in early 2012.
