Draft Regulations were laid before Parliament by Francis Maude, Cabinet Office Minister, on 27 February 2012 to enable the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to disclose specified Social Security and Revenue information to the UK Statistics Authority (the preferred name for the Statistics Board) in order to improve population statistics.
No information may be disclosed to the Authority by DWP and HMRC until Parliamentary approval is obtained, the regulations are made and all the organisations concerned are satisfied that data handling requirements are fully met.
