How many people originally responded to the religion question with a religion which did not fall into any of the main religious categories, and specified "Jedi" as their religion? Which category were such responses moved to?

All responses of ‘Jedi’ recorded in the 2011 Census question on religion using the ‘write-in’ option were coded as ‘Jedi Knight’ and identified as such as a separate sub-category under the main, ‘No religion’ category. This is consistent with the approach adopted in the 2001 Census, thus allowing direct statistical comparability between the two censuses
ONS published the first results from the 2011 Census for England and Wales relating to religion on 11 December 2012. The table QS210EW presents the detailed breakdown of religion reported in the Census for each local authority area. The total number of ‘Jedi Knight’ responses reported for England and Wales was 176,632. The whole table can be downloaded from the ONS website at
