For Greater Manchester the 2001 mid-year estimate was 2,516,100 and the 2011 Census figure is 2,682,500, which is a rise of 166,400 or 6.6 per cent.
Information on religion collected in the 2011 Census is not yet available but will be part of a release planned for later in the year. Therefore as this information is intended for a future publication it is exempt under section 22 of the Freedom of Information Act. More information about the second release is available at:
