Measuring Income and Spending of Households in the UK economy

Measuring Income and Spending of Households in the UK economy

9.30am– 12.30pm 18 January 2013
The Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol Street, London, EC1Y 8LX

ONS would like to invite users of the household expenditure and income estimates to a user seminar.

The seminar will cover the Consumer Trends and Economic Position of Households publications, and the detailed estimates contained within, which feed into the estimate of the size of the UK economy (GDP).

This event will offer the opportunity for suppliers and users of the data to discuss their priorities.

The seminar will offer:

  • users and potential users a chance to provide feedback on how they use our data and what future developments they would like to see.

  • presentations from the household expenditure and income teams on how the estimates are compiled, as well as analyses conducted by ONS and future developments.

  • presentations from two users* on how they use household expenditure and income estimates (including the savings ratio).

* A confirmed presentation from The Institute of Fiscal Studies and The Bank of England. These presentations will be used to generate discussion around the ONS estimates. For reasons of market sensitivity and confidentiality there will not be the opportunity to ask questions of The Bank of England representative.

The event is free of charge. However, spaces for the seminar are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please RSVP by email to consumer.trends@ons.gsi.gov.uk in order to reserve a place.
