IT Recruitment Open Days

We are holding two IT Recruitment Open Days in September, for professionals to find out about the exciting IT job opportunities we can offer - 11 September 2014, 1pm - 7pm, ONS Newport and 25 September 2014, 1pm - 7pm, ONS Titchfield.

We want experienced IT professionals who have skills in:

  • Portfolio Management Office

  • Solution Architects

  • Oracle DBA

  • Software Programmers: Java, PL-SQL, VB and SQL, SAS, Ingres and Open Road

We also have a number of graduate positions for SAS, Ingres and VB-SQL.

From the economic future of the UK to providing of public services, statistics are vital to every area of our lives. But what is vital to the production and provision of these statistics? Technology. Robust, effective, cutting-edge technology. IT is vital to ONS, driving modernisation and streamlining operations for everyone. Our IT professionals – more than 340 talented people - combine statistical knowledge, methodology, IT and project management to put us at the forefront of government digitalisation and data visualisation.

Work that’s far-reaching and wide-ranging

Our IT professionals provide business statistical application development and support which enables us to produce and publish trusted statistics for the UK. They make sure that we are producing and sharing these statistics in the most efficient, effective way. They make sure that our IT infrastructure, systems and software are secure, robust and reliable, and that they are capable of constantly evolving in line with business requirements and Government IT strategies. ‘Constantly-evolving’ is the key phrase here. We have a vibrant code line and we’re currently modernising our IT systems to converge on shared platform. Right now, we have more than 50 major development projects underway, showing you the pace of innovation and change.

It’s not just what we do that’s varied. We recruit IT professional with diverse specialisms and backgrounds, including:
