The Office for National Statistics (ONS) aims to produce statistics that are fit for purpose and are produced using sound methodologies. Quality reports and methodological papers are available to help you understand the data that ONS produces.
Quality reports
Quality and Methodology Information (QMI) reports are available for ONS outputs. These documents aim to provide users of ONS statistics with a greater understanding of their quality and the methods that are used to produce them. QMIs also contain links to further, more technical, information.
Methodological papers
Methodological papers are available for each statistical theme. For each theme there are papers, reports, and notes that provide more detailed information about how ONS statistics are compiled and the specific methodologies that are used.
