Migration Statistics Improvement Programme - communication with key stakeholders

For the Migration Statistics Improvement Programme (MSIP) to be successful it is crucial to engage other government departments and other key stakeholders, particularly local authorities.

The IMPS team have built on their links with relevant work areas in the interest of the MSIP.

Channels of communication include using the Local Government Association (LGA) network mechanisms for communicating with researchers, planners and finance officers in local authorities, and joint Office for National Statistics (ONS)/LGA workshops.

Communication also includes publishing updates in the Local Authorities Research & Intelligence Association (LARIA) and British Urban & Regional Information Systems Association (BURISA) newsletters and attending various conferences, such as the British Society for Population Studies (BSPS).

The Central & Local Government Information Partnership (CLIP) group, as well as other groups such as the Chief Planning Officers Association, are also kept informed.

Other government departments will continue to be updated through the various advisory and programme working groups with which they are involved as well as through the ONS key accounts network.

Updates to the work programme are provided through the IMPS Update, which can be found using the link to the right of this page.

Communication is also a key element in the Quality Assurance Strategy (see download section).
