Presentation order guidance

We produce guidance notes that set out the recommended standard presentation order of statistics. The recommendations are for use in publications (paper and electronic) and statistics disseminated on the web.

We update the guidance notes to reflect changes in geographies as required and they are available for administrative, health and electoral areas.

We have updated the current guidance notes to reflect the GSS coding structure in line with the GSS Coding and Naming policy implemented on 1 January 2011.

  • Super Output Areas

    Guidance for middle layer and lower layer super output areas (MSOA and LSOA).

  • Administrative areas

    Guidance for administrative areas (including electoral wards, local authorities (LAD) etc.

  • Electoral areas

    Guidance for electoral areas (e.g. Westminster parliamentary constituencies).

  • Health areas

    Guidance for health areas such as clinical commissioning groups (CCG).
