Classifications

Statistical classifications provide a set of related categories in a meaningful, systematic and standard format. Classifications are generally developed to support policy making and because of that, to organise and present statistics.

These classifications are subject to regular review, ensuring that they are kept up to date with social and economic changes, whilst maintaining European and international comparability as necessary.

Classifications and Harmonisation Unit (CHU) are responsible for four widely used statistical nomenclatures.
