The employment and inactivity rates shown in this table were the headline employment and inactivity rates until August 2010, when ONS replaced these headlines rates with rates for those aged from 16 to 64 for both men and women. These new headline rates for those aged from 16 to 64 are shown in Table A02. This product is part of the set of Small Area Population Estimates (SAPE). It includes mid-year population estimates for both 2003 Statistical Wards in England and Wales by age and sex. Statistical Wards are updated annually, the 2003 Statistical Wards are the boundaries as of 31st December 2002. Ward population estimates are consistent with Super Output Area (SOA), local authority, regional and national population estimates.

This product is part of the set of Small Area Population Estimates (SAPE). It includes mid-year population estimates for Census Area Statistics (CAS) wards in England and Wales by age and sex. CAS wards were created for the dissemination of 2001 Census data and are not subject to boundary change, they therefore provide a useful basis for comparing ward level statistics across time. Ward population estimates are consistent with Super Output Area (SOA), local authority, regional and national population estimates.
