The Opinions and Lifestyle Survey (OPN) is run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The Survey provides a fast, cost effective and reliable way of collecting data and is available on a monthly basis to non-profit making bodies such as government departments, charities and academics.
Unlike most omnibus surveys, the Opinions and Lifestyle Survey uses a stratified random probability sample design. This favoured approach for high quality government social surveys allows statistical measures of precision to be created for survey estimates, which is not possible for quota sample designs.
A standard set of questions is used to gather demographic and classificatory information. Clients may then purchase modules of questions, and may book space for one month or longer. The period from receipt of final questions until data delivery is 14 weeks.
