The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is part of the Government Statistical Service (GSS) - the community of all civil servants working in the collection, production and communication of official statistics. The GSS is an active part of a global statistical community. This helps us to:
add value to our statistics by improving international comparability
improve the UK statistical system by sharing good practice
develop more efficient ways of statistical production through international coordination
meet the needs of our international users, such as the OECD, United Nations and the European Union, while minimising extra burdens on us and our data suppliers; and,
support the UK government's commitment to overseas development
