The Regional Accounts provide an overview of the economic performance of the United Kingdom at a regional level. A European classification system called NUTS (Nomenclature of Units for Territorial Statistics) provides a breakdown of UK regions and countries, allowing a comparable view of economic activity across the European Union. Indicators gross value added (GVA), household income and gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) are produced at regional and sub-regional levels using a structured accounting framework.
NUTS1 - English Government Office Regions, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. NUTS2 - 37 areas, mainly groups of counties and unitary authorities NUTS3 - 133 areas, principally individual counties and unitary authorities.
