Reproducing ONS material

For research or personal use

Customers wishing to use material solely for the purposes of research or private study may print it or download it electronically without requiring specific prior permission.

For media use

Media outlets may reproduce material without specific prior permission, but should include the source accrediation to ONS:

For commercial or other use

Customers wishing to reproduce ONS material, other than for the purposes of research or private study, must obtain a Click-Use Licence from the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI). See the section ‘Applying for the Click-Use Licence’ below.

Whenever such material is published you must accredit the material as being from the ONS website, including the URL, as follows:

Applying for the Click-Use Licence

• Go to the OPSI website http://opsi.gov.uk/click-use/index.htm
• Follow the link: Click-Use licence
• Read the terms and conditions by selecting 'the PSI Licence information'
• Read the PSI License terms and conditions then select 'Apply for a PSI Licence'
• Select 'Register' and complete the registration form
• Log back in to apply for a Licence
• Select 'Apply for a Licence' and choose the 'PSI Licence'
• An email will be sent to you confirming that the form has been submitted and quoting your Licence number

Redistributing ONS material

Customers wishing to repackage and/or redistribute ONS material in their own products or services and allow their customers to use such material should email licensing@opsi.gsi.gov.uk with details of their request.

Copyright of a third party

The permission to reproduce Crown protected material does not extend to any material on this site which is identified as being authored by a third party. Authorisation to reproduce such material must be obtained from the copyright holders concerned.

Confidentiality

Census products incorporate safeguards against possible identification of any particular person or household. The purchaser shall not use products to attempt to obtain or derive information relating specifically to an identified person or household, nor claim to have obtained or derived such information.

Hyperlinks to the ONS website

No permission is necessary to hyperlink to pages on the ONS website.
