2011 Census questionnaire content
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has engaged in a programme of consultation, question development and testing to finalise the content of the 2011 Census questionnaire.
New questions have been developed for topics where there is a new demand for information, and existing questions have been redeveloped to account for increasing or changing user requirements.
A key part of this development programme was the 2007 Census Test, where some newly developed questions were used on a large scale for the first time. An evaluation of the test questionnaire is available to download in the 2007 Test section (see related links), together with the actual questionnaires used.
A 2009 Census Rehearsal took place on 11 October 2009 in three local authorities. Questionnaires that were used in the rehearsal are available in the 2009 Rehearsal questionnaire section (see related links).
Final recommendations on specific aspects of the content and questions that should be included on the 2011 questionnaire are also available for download in the 'Question and content recommendations for 2011' section.
