Vital events data
Vital events data are generated from the information collected at the registration of life events, such as birth and death. It is compulsory information provided when a life event is registered, although some details may be provided on a voluntary basis.
The microdata, or unit record information, are available to researchers for statistical research and analysis purposes. Vital events data are also available as estimates, projections and tabulations.
Access is provided subject to meeting the legislation which the information was provided under, the National Statistics Code of Practice and Protocols, and the confidentiality guarantees given to those providing the information.
