The range of topics covered by the Opinions Survey is diverse. For example, in 2007-08 around 30 different subjects were covered. Examples were:

- census testing (Office for National Statistics)
- parental contact (Her Majesty’s Courts Service)

- charitable giving (National Council for Voluntary Organisations)
- contraception (Department of Health)
- Internet access (Office for National Statistics)
- public confidence in official statistics (Office for National Statistics)
- smoking (Department of Health)
- working conditions (Health and Safety Executive)
Many of these topic areas were subsequently repeated and may also reappear in future Opinions surveys.
