The National Statistics Small Business Forum

Aims

The National Statistics Small Business Forum (NS SBF) provides the means for representatives of small businesses and managers of government departments to consider ways to limit the burden of surveys. It was initiated in 2003 at the request of the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

The aim of the NS SBF is to take forward the National Statistics Code of Practice Protocol on Managing Respondent Load by strengthening the input of small businesses to the process of minimising business compliance costs.

Scope

All Business Surveys (voluntary and statutory) conducted on behalf of governments, including devolved administrations for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

For the purpose of the NS SBF, small businesses are defined as those with less than 20 in employment, (or the equivalent if employment is not the factor determining selection) although this should not preclude the NS SBF from commenting on the respondent load of larger businesses.
