Quarterly Inquiry of Activity for Construction and Allied Trades

The Quarterly Inquiry of Activity for Construction and Allied Trades is a survey of businesses within the construction and allied trades sector in Great Britain. The survey collects information about employment and the value of new work, and housing and non-housing projects carried out during the quarter.

The results are used to monitor the performance of the industry, and contribute to the calculation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  GDP is a key economic measure used by the Bank of England and HM Treasury to monitor and forecast economic growth, and to inform vital policy decisions.

Results also contribute to a monthly Eurostat release on European Construction, allowing international comparisons of industry activity.
