Our structure

The structure of the Office for National Statistics changed in the run up to the launch of the UK Statistics Authority on the 1st April 2008, with the appointment of two new Directors General. The structure of the ONS and its senior management is now as follows:

  • The National Statistician – Karen Dunnell.

  • Director General for Statistics Delivery – Jil Matheson. This post is responsible for delivering all ONS statistical outputs and oversees the work of:

    • Macroeconomics and National Accounts
    • Surveys and Administrative Sources
    • Population, Health and Regional Analysis
    • Census
    • Economic, Labour Market and Social Analysis

  • Director General for Transformation – Rolande Anderson. This post is leading ONS change programmes into the future, including:

    • Methodology
    • Procurement, Planning and Property
    • Human Resources
    • Communication
    • Information Management
    • Innovation
    • Programme/Project Management

  • Finance and some other key central support functions report directly to the National Statistician.
