Thirteenth GSS Methodology Conference, 23 June 2008
The Congress Centre, 28 Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3LS
Final Programme
This one day event was designed to bring together people working on methodological developments and applications from around the GSS, to share experiences and provide a forum for learning about different methods and techniques.
The opening plenary session included a welcoming address from the National Statistician Karen Dunnell and presentations from Richard Alldritt (Head of Assessment, UK Statistics Authority) and Stephen Penneck (Director of Methodology, Office for National Statistics). This year there was also a plenary panel discussion focusing on trust in official statistics following the introduction of the Statistics and Registration Service Act. The session was chaired by Frank Nolan (Office for National Statistics) and included John Pullinger (House of Commons Library), Paul Wiles (Head of Government Social Research service) and Mary Sweetland (NHS Scotland). There were also parallel sessions on dissemination, demography, time series, measurement of output and productivity of public services, estimation and analysis, small area estimation, quality and survey methods. The programme also included abstracts for all papers.
