User Groups
The Statistics User Forum (SUF) was set up in 2004 as the successor to the long-established Statistics User Council.
It provides an umbrella organisation for an increasingly large number of groups of statistics users (many of whom are now regarding themselves as customers), and represents the shared views of this very diverse community.
The members meet three times a year to exchange news and opinions. These meetings and SUF’s many other activities are supported by a secretariat hosted by the Royal Statistical Society (RSS). The grant funding from the Economic and Social Research Council is helping fund its activities for the next two years.
The objectives of SUF are to:
- develop and strengthen user groups
- influence producers of statistics
- coordinate user community views
- provide effective help to user groups
SUF's priorities are:
- improved access to official statistics
- UK-wide data
- income statistics
- confidentiality and disclosure
- geographic coding
