Leading causes of death in England and Wales - how should ONS group causes?
Opening date: 01 January 2006
Closing date: 13 March 2006
Department: Office for National Statistics
Category: Health and Care
To complement current routine mortality statistics publications, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) plan to produce a routine annual tabulation of the leading causes of death in England and Wales, using death registration data.
The intention is to provide new information for public health purposes, provide a succinct summary of mortality patterns in the population and support the development of broadly based policies and programs aimed at preventing deaths. Comments on the proposals put forward by ONS are now requested.
