Improvements to the demographic analysis capability

Although the Office for National Statistics (ONS) already has considerable demographic expertise, this work aims to enhance and better utilise this resource in the Improving Migration and Population Statistics (IMPS) Project.

Specific aims include exploring the requirements for population base definitions in addition to 'usual residence,' and using demographic analysis to better understand more complex living arrangements. Both of these areas are key inputs to the 2011 Census. View an update on the work on population definitions currently being undertaken.
