Allsopp Review

The First Report focused on the first part of the remit, regional data, and consulted on proposed recommendations for improving these data. The Final Report focused on improvements to how economic statistics capture structural change in the economy; the complete set of recommendations is presented in the Final Report and reflects comments received during the consultation.

Changing Regional Economies

Changing Regional Economies reports have been produced for each English region to coincide with the official launch of the new Office for National Statistics (ONS) Regional Statisticians teams, established in each English Government Office Region (GOR) in April 2007. Each report provides a profile of the relevant region and presents a range of statistics that help to understand differences between regions. Within regions, comparisons are made between sub-regions and between rural and urban areas. Regional statistics in the context of the European Structural Funds are discussed, followed by a look ahead at the developments in regional statistics expected as a result of the Allsopp programme, three years since the original Allsopp Report.

Regional Price level surveys

Regional price level surveys were considered in the Allsopp Review of Statistics for Economic Policymaking. The approach taken in both the 2003 and 2004 regional price surveys was supported by the Review.
