How many staff are at the office full time, working hybrid, and full time working from home.
We said
Thank you for submitting a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
For the purpose of our response, we are assuming that 'full time' in this context refers to 'all contracted hours' -- as opposed to the contractual characteristic of full time or part time.
ONS employees are contracted to work either from (i) one of ONS' sites or (ii) their home location, depending upon the requirements of the role.
Employees contracted to work out of our Darlington, East Kilbride, Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Newport or Titchfield locations are able to work in a hybrid manner, working either in the office or remotely dependent upon the requirements of their role and their personal circumstances. These are informal working arrangements, managed locally by line managers and are not centrally recorded.
Employees with a home based location are typically in roles requiring mobility, such as our remote field workers, collecting data for statistical purposes.
As at 31 March 2024, we have 4839 site based colleagues and 753 colleagues based from home.
